Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to survey and analyze the syntactic position and movement of Aspectualizers. There are two aspects in English, that is, Syntactic Aspect and Semantic Aspect. Syntactic Aspect is divided into perfect aspect "have＋pp" and progressive aspect "be+V- ing". Semantic Aspect includes the meaning of words, phrases, etc. In syntactic aspect, "have＋pp" and "be＋V-ing" have aspectualizers. In this paper, I explored the aspectualizers and mood auxiliaries through many sentences. Our main concern is the usage of S-adverb and VP- adverb as Syntactic Aspectualizers, as well as their position in a sentence. Though the theoretical framework of the paper is based on Transformational Generative Grammar suggested in Chomsky(1965), I tried to relate the syntactic aspect of the Aspectualizers with their semantic properties, which would help provide the comprehensive study of the Aspectualizers of English.
