Abstract

This paper aims to propose a way of developing Korean language textbooks for married women immigrants through questionnaire analysis. There have been many Korean language programs for married women immigrants in Korea. However, the curriculum of Korean language teaching for married women immigrants has been not set up, and the Korean language teaching programs have been run unprofessionally. What is worse is that Korean language textbooks for them are not linguistically systematic. It has been also pointed out that research regarding teaching Korean language to them is so limited and remains at the starting point. Accordingly, in this research, a way of developing Korean language textbooks will be proposed based on the questionnaire analysis of Korean language teachers that have experience teaching married women immigrants. Customized textbooks which fit the situation of married women immigrants must be developed. The goal of their Korean language education lays in the social integration with Korean people, and thus the realm of culture must be actively dealt with. The focus will be placed on spoken Korean, but written Korean must be also adequately treated. The topics and situations which married women immigrants easily meet must be reflected in the textbooks. The textbooks must be composed with abundant vocabulary which is used in everyday life and with practical contents. The well -developed textbooks will help married women immigrants get real-life information.
