본 논문은 교육에 있어서의 평등론의 계보와 그 새로운 조류에 주목하고, 分析視座를 제시했다. 학교교육에 있어서의 평등화의 실천과 이론에 관해 세 가지에 걸쳐 검증했다. 첫째는, 아메리카에 있어서의 불평등의 극복과정을, 통합화교육, 보상교육, 적극적 차별 시정조치, 커뮤니티콘트롤, 80～90년대의 평등론의 새로운 전개 등의 논점에 걸쳐 검토하고, 실천상의 현대과제를 검토했다. 둘째는 평등론의 현재의 수준을 J.Rawls의 「격차원리」, F.Feher의 「의사결정에 참가하는 기회의 평등」, R.Dworkin의 「평등한 배려와 존중을 받을 권리」에 주목하여 검토했다. 이들 검토로부터 얻은 가설적 명제로서, 평등개념은, 단순한 획일적인 평등개념에서, 자기규정의 특수화 (differentiation) 가 진행하는 단계에서의 평등문제에의 어프로치는 각 개인의 불리한 조건을 보상할 것, 더욱 각 개인의 고유한 필요차이에 밀착하여 대응할 것을 불가결의 구성요소로서 위치 짓는 평등개념으로 발전하고 있음을 명확하게 하였다.
Abstract
The Genealogy of the Equality Principle in educational Policy, and the Issues of Equality TheoryPark, Kee-won(Kyung-min College) This paper analyzed the genealogy and the current issues of the equality theory in education. which presented the author's viewpoint. This study verified the practice and theory of equality in school education. First, it discusses issues regarding the resolution of inequality, such as integrated education, compensation education, affirmative action, community control, and the new deployment of the equality theory of the 1980s to the 1990s in the United States. Second, it discusses the present level of equity theories such as the "difference principle" by Rawls, "equal opportunity of participation in decision-making" by Feher, and "the right of equal treatment and respect" by Dworkin. As a hypothetical proposition obtained from the discussion, it could be concluded that the concept of equity devolves from the simple uniform equalization to the differentiated equalization which compensates each individual's disadvantageous conditions and responds his or her needs.
