이 글의 목적은 아도르노의 변증법적 사회학을 ‘고통의 미시론’으로 밝히는 것이다. 아도르노에게 사회는 본질적으로 과정이기에 말로 된 정의로 사회를 고정시킬 수 없으며, 수학처럼 투명하게 이해될 수 없다. 그 이유는 오늘날 인간들의 사회가 비인간적인 사회로 전도되었기 때문이며, 이러한 현실의 모순 속에서 투명하게 이해될 수 없는 고통이 발생하기 때문이다. 아도르노는 개인과 사회를 각기 대표하는 베버와 뒤르켐의 논의를 경유한다. 이를 통해, 그는 개인과 사회의 매개 관계에서 발생하는 모순과 고통에 대한 해석을 사회학의 과제로 삼는다. 그래서 그의 사회학은 개인의 고통에서 사회의 비인간성을 해석하는 사회에 대한 저항으로서 이론적 실천이다. 그것은 가장 미시적인 곳, 즉 개인의 내밀한 주관에서 가장 거시적인 사회의 강압을 폭로한다. 따라서, 아도르노의 변증법적 사회학은 잘못된 사회가 탈정치화시킨 개인의 고통이 주관적 고통이 아닌 사회적 고통이라는 진실을 볼 수 있게 해주는 고통의 미시론인 것이다.
Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to shed light on the dialectical sociology of Adorno as a 'micrology of suffering'. For Adorno, society is essentially a process that cannot be fixed by any verbal definition, nor can it be understood as a form of mathematical transparency. The reason is that a so-called human society has been inverted into an inhuman society, and this very contradictory state is exactly what has happened once we look at our society from the perspective of the suffering deeply hidden in the individual. Adorno goes through the discussion of Weber and Durkheim, who respectively represent the realms of the individual and society. Through this, he takes as his task the interpretation of the contradictions and sufferings that arise from the mediation between the individual and society. Therefore, his sociology is a theoretical practice as a resistance to the society that deciphers the inhumanity of society from the individual suffering. In the most microscopic place, i.e., in the private subjectivity of the individual, it exposes the most macroscopic social coercion. Thus, the dialectical sociology of Adorno is a micrology of suffering that allows us to see the truth that the individual suffering depoliticized by the false society is not a subjective pain but social suffering.
