Purpose: The objective of this study was to examine the impact of shift work type, job satisfaction, and handover errors on the work-life balance of clinical nurses working in general wards. Methods: The study participants included 154 nurses employed at an advanced general hospital. Data were collected from September 10 to 26, 2024 using a structured self-report questionnaire. Analyses included descriptive statistics, t-tests, ANOVA, Pearson correlation, and multiple regression. Results: No significant differences in job satisfaction, handover errors, or work-life balance were observed between 2-shift and 3-shift nurses (p> .05). Factors significantly influencing work-life balance included job position (β = -0.25, p= .006), experience of handover errors (β = -0.25, p= .001), and interpersonal relationships characterized by respect and recognition (β = 0.29, p= .011). Among these, interpersonal relationships had the strongest positive effect. The final regression model explained 36% of the variance in work-life balance. Conclusion: Beyond shift type, interpersonal dynamics and handover-related experiences play a critical role in the work-life balance of nurses. To improve this balance, support should be provided at institutional and policy levels for strategic interventions such as staffing optimization, enhanced communication culture, and flexible work arrangements.
