초록
The purpose of this study is to discuss choreography and works in relation to those eastern ideas. Philosophical approach of modern dance choreography to the eastern world is considered to affect not only the dances' forms, contents, theme, theatric elements and creative process, but also the movement principles, movement technique, choreographic ideas and aesthetics. In concrete the influential elements are such as the images of St. Denis' dances, the principle of technique of Graham dances, freedom from spirit and freedom of dance in Duncan dances, body-subjected consciousness and identity in post modern dancers, etc. Since 1900 there appeared the approachment to the eastern philosophy and aesthetics in the modern dance and post modern dance world. Especially the spiritual experience and self-awareness through dancing body as well as thinking procedure and its structural appropriation from Zen ideas, are the reflections of the eastern philosophy. The dancing performance by Hawkins and Hay use the spiritual experience and self-awareness of Zen meditation. Also the acceptance of martial arts for dance technique as well as the mysticism is transformed into the interrelationship of human spirit, body and mind. In short, the integration of body and mind from dualistic idea, and the exploration of free movement from ballet technique, are considered as the aspects of eastern influences in early modern dance. Furthermore, the eastern subjective identity through body encouraged post modern dancer's individual-self identity of body.
