초록

This study argues that protest has become choreographic, and analyzes its choreographic strategies. Witnessing the boom of creative and performative protests utilizing body and its movement as the focal strategies, this study interconnects the discourse of protest and choreography. It extracts three major concepts in art dance—i.e., tableau vivant, kinesthetic empathy, and defamiliarization—and applies them to various protest practices. In so doing, the study suggests that choreography can shed new lights in how the political is conjunct with the aesthetic upon human body.

Abstract

This study argues that protest has become choreographic, and analyzes its choreographic strategies. Witnessing the boom of creative and performative protests utilizing body and its movement as the focal strategies, this study interconnects the discourse of protest and choreography. It extracts three major concepts in art dance—i.e., tableau vivant, kinesthetic empathy, and defamiliarization—and applies them to various protest practices. In so doing, the study suggests that choreography can shed new lights in how the political is conjunct with the aesthetic upon human body.
