This study aims to understand the concept of choreography, whose scope is being expanded in contemporary dance, and explore its territory by finding the link between each of its work and dance. This study analyses activities that are accepted as types of even in the absence of “physical movements”, which is one of the key concepts in dance. At the time when the physical body ‘and’ movements were essential elements in dance, dance was inevitably restricted to the constant movements of dancer’s body. When the boundaries of dance are expanded beyond the physical body ‘or’ movements, however, we are able to understand that choreography’s territory is also expanding from performative presence to the movement of structured objects.
Abstract
