서울역사박물관의 평생교육기능 활성화 방안 연구

평생학습사회의 도래로 인하여 전통적 형태의 학교뿐만 아니라 사회 전반적 영역에서 시민의 학습 활동이 활발히 이루어지고 있으며, 특히 박물관을 비롯한 문화시설의 평생교육 기능 활성화에 대한 요구가 증대되고 있다. 이 연구는 우리나라의 유일한 도시역사박물관인 서울역사박물관의 평생교육 현황을 분석하고, 이를 토대로 서울역사박물관의 평생교육 기능 활성화 방안을 제시하기 위한 목적으로 이루어졌다. 이를 위하여 서울역사박물관의 운영현황과 평생교육 현황을 분석하고, 향후 서울역사박물관이 수행해야 할 평생교육 기능을 논의하였다. 현재 서울역사박물관에서는 다수의 평생교육 프로그램이 운영되고 있지만, 평생교육 프로그램의 내용과 교육방법이 다양하지 못하며, 교육 참여자가 소수이다. 향후 서울역사박물관의 평생교육 기능을 활성화하기 위해서는 시민의 평생학습 지원에 초점을 두고 박물관을 경영하여야 하며, 박물관의 기능을 체계적으로 재검토하여 박물관의 하위 기능이 평생교육 기능을 지원하는 형태로 재구조화되어야 한다. 더불어 서울시민의 박물관 이용을 극대화하고, 인근 지역에 소재한 문화시설과의 네트워크를 강화하여 시민을 대상으로 하는 평생학습 기회 제공에 있어서 시너지 효과를 창출하여야 할 것이다.
Abstract
As the beginning of lifelong learning society, the learning activity by citizens is being accomplished not only in conventional schools, but throughout other institution. The lifelong learning functions of cultural facilities like museums or art galleries are being activated. This study has been performed to analyze the present conditions of lifelong learning in Seoul Museum of History to present the method to activate the lifelong learning function. For this, the museum’s educational functions and lifelong learning conditions have been analyzed. After that the plan to activate lifelong learning functions at the museum in the future has been presented. Although there are many lifelong learning programs in operation at this time, the contents of learning programs and learning methods aren’t diverse. In order to activate the lifelong learning function of Seoul Museum of History in the future, the museum’s management should focus on lifelong learning support for citizens and each of its functions has to be restructured in a form of supporting the learning function by systematically examining the function of the museum.
