Abstract
Mobile learning has become a new learning environment along with the advent of wireless internet and innovative mobile technologies. Noticed is that the features of mobile learning are more adaptable to informal learning environment than school setting, and in fact, both domestic and overseas museums have actively practiced mobile learning in diverse patterns and forms since early 2000s, whereas mobile learning in school has been, relatively, slow and limited in implementing due to several barriers. In this context, this study, first, conducted literature review on museum mobile learning, from which, then, presented was a school-museum collaborated mobile learning approach as a strategy for active practice of mobile learning in school. While museum mobile learning shared some features of mobility, individuality, interactivity, and contextuality with mobile learning in school, this study, however, focusing on differences, extracted three keywords of BYOD, virtual museum, and museum (digital) objects, as distinctive features of the museum mobile learning. Finally, combined with the distinctive features of the museum mobile learning, ‘a school-museum collaborated mobile learning model’ was proposed in this study as a framework for sustainable mobile learning in school, which is expected to overcome several challenges the school mobile learning have to deal with, and at the same time, satisfy the social needs of the Digital Age.
