Abstract
The purpose of this study was to explore the new moderating factor of the influence of foreign WOM. The authors hypothesize that nationality of the target brand can be a moderating factor of the influence of the foreign WOM. In details, while the impact of foreign WOM about the domestic brand is the same as the results of prior research(Kim and Jun 2013), the author expect that the influence of foreign WOM about foreign brand is not effective to domestic WOM. We conducted an experiment to test our hypotheses. The results are as follow. First, domestic WOM has stronger impact than foreign WOM in the case of negative WOM about the domestic brand. However there is no difference between domestic and foreign WOM in the case of negative WOM about the foreign brand. Second, foreign WOM has stronger impact than domestic WOM in the case of positive WOM about the domestic brand. But, there is no difference between domestic and foreign WOM about foreign products. In conclusion, the authors summarize the results of this study and suggest implications.
