Abstract
The purpose of this study was to find the differences in the message contents produced by 6th grade elementary school students in the process of asynchronous online discussion according to the types of personality. The indicators of comparative personality types are as follows; Extroversion - Introversion(E-I), Sensation - Perceiving(S-P), Thinking - Feeling(T-F), and Judgement - Perceiving(J-P). As the result of this study, we can find the differences in the message contents among the various types of personality groups. The differences are as follows; First, the interactive messages are more frequently posted by Perceiving dimension group and U-band group(middle positioned in the specific dimension of the personality indicator) in the Sensation - Perceiving indicator, Thinking dimension group in the T-F dimension indicator than any other type of dimension groups. Second, the cognitive messages are more frequently posted by U-band group in the E-I indicator, Perceiving dimension group and in the S-P indicator, Feeling dimension group and U-band group in the T-F dimension indicator, and Judgement dimension group and U-band group in the J-P indicator than any other type of personality dimension groups. The result of this study can be used as important basic information to maximize the educational effect of asynchronous online discussion by remedying learners' attitude just concentrating on producing specific types of messages, and guiding them to produce various types of messages in the process of online discussion.
