본 연구는 2019년에 개발된 경남 학교민주주의 지표를 통해 경남지역의 학교민주주의 현황과 인식을 알아보기 위하여 경남 지역의 학생과 교원, 학부모를 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 연구결과 경남지역 학생, 교원, 학부모의 학교민주주의에 대한 인식은 매우 긍정적으로 나타났다. 경남의 초등학생은 남학생보다 여학생이, 사립학교 학생보다 공립학교 학생이, 일반학교 학생보다 행복학교 학생이 학교민주주의를 더 긍정적으로인식하고 있었다. 중학생은 여학생보다 남학생이, 공립학교 학생보다 사립학교 학생이, 일반학교 학생보다 행복학교 학생이 학교 민주주의를 더 긍정적으로 인식하고 있었으며, 고등학생은 여학생보다 남학생이, 사립학교학생보다 공립학교 학생이, 일반학교 학생보다 행복학교 학생이 학교 민주주의를 더 긍정적으로 인식하고 있었다. 교원은 고등학교에 근무하는 교원보다 초등학교, 중학교에 근무하는 교원이, 여성 교원보다 남성 교원이, 교사보다 관리자가 학교민주주의에 대해 긍정적으로 인식하고 있었다. 학부모는 사립학교 학부모보다 공립학교학부모가, 일반학교 학부모보다 행복학교 학부모가 학교민주주의에 대해 긍정적으로 인식하고 있었다. 본 연구의 결과가 경남 학교의 민주적 운영 지원을 위한 교육적·행정적 기초자료로서 기능하고 나아가 학교민주주의발전에 긍정적인 자료로 활용되어 시사점을 도출할 수 있는 토대가 되기를 기대한다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to survey students, teachers, and parents' perceptions of school democracy in Gyeongsangnam-do to investigate the current status and situations of school democracy. This study was conducted a complete survey of students, teachers, and parents in Gyeongsangnam-do through the Gyeongnam School Democracy Indicators developed in 2019. As a result, students', teachers', and parents' perceptions of school democracy were reported very positive. To be more specific, girls in elementary schools were more positive than boys. Also, public school students and happy school students were more positive than private school students and general school students. On the other hand, boys in middle schools were more positive than girls, and private school students and Happy school students were more positive about school democracy than public school students, and General school students. Lastly, male students in high schools were more positive than female students, and public school students and Happy school students were more positive about school democracy than private school students and General school students. As educational and administrative fundamental data, the findings can contribute to understanding the current status and situations of school democracy in Gyeongsangnam-do and developing the educational policies of school democracy and democratic administrative operation in our school communities.
