여대생의 성찰을 통해 본 아버지의 의미 탐색

A Study on the Meaning of Fathers through Reflection of Female University Students

초록

본 연구는 여대생에게 ‘아버지의 의미’를 탐색하기 위해 서울소재 4년제 여대와 남녀공학 여학생 총 205명의 성찰보고서를 기반으로 CQR-M을 적용하여 분석하였다. 아버지의 의미를 분석한 결과 3개 영역, 6개 범주, 21개 하위범주로드러났다. 연구의 구체적 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 여대생이 인식하는 아버지의 역할은 ‘헌신적 아버지’, ‘부재한아버지’ 등 2개의 범주로 나타났고, ‘헌신적 아버지’는 ‘가정의 수호자’, ‘인생의 길잡이와 조언자’, ‘문제해결사’, ‘경제적 필요충족’, ‘기다림과 일상의 수고’ 등 5개의 하위범주로, ‘부재한 아버지’는 ‘아버지의 물리적 부재’, ‘아버지책임의 부재’ 등 2개의 하위범주로 드러났다. 둘째, 여대생이 인식하는 아버지 상은 ‘전통적 가부장’과 ‘새로운 아버지상’ 등 2개의 범주로, ‘전통적 가부장’은 ‘늘 바쁘고 피곤함’, ‘지배와 강요’, ‘남존여비’, ‘만취와 술주정’ 등의 4개의하위범주로 나눠졌다. 셋째, 여대생이 인식하는 ‘아버지와의 관계’는 ‘관계인식 변화’, ‘관계단절과 위기’ 등 2개의범주로, ‘관계인식 변화’는 ‘가장의로서 희생에 대한 미안함’, ‘아프고 늙어감에 대한 안쓰러움’, ‘존경하는 마음’, ‘익숙해져 감사함을 잊음’ 등 4개의 하위범주로 나눠졌다. ‘관계단절과 위기’는 ‘어색하고 불편함’, ‘애증관계’, ‘소통불능’ 등 3개 하위범주로 나눠졌다. 본 연구는 새로운 아버지 상을 강조하는 미디어와 대중문화 속에서 실제 여대생들이인식하는 ‘아버지의 의미’는 무엇인지 구체적으로 분석하고, 양극화된 아버지의 역할과 상을 통해 여대생들이 받은영향과 아버지와의 관계를 조명했다는데 그 의의를 찾을 수 있다.

Abstract

This study analyzed the meaning of fathers to female university students by applying CQR-M based on the reflection report of 205 female students from Seoul’s both co-ed and women's university. The analysis of father's meaning revealed that there were three areas, six categories, and 21 sub-categories. The specific results of the study are as follows. First, the role of fathers perceived by female university students was shown in two categories: 'dedicated fathers' and 'absent fathers'. 'dedicated father' were five sub-categories: 'protectors of family', 'guides and advisors of life', 'problem solvers', 'economic needs', 'waiting and daily works', and 'absent fathers' were five sub-categories. Two subcategories were revealed: ‘the physical absence of father’ and ‘absence of father responsibility’. Second, the fathers' figures recognized by female university students were divided into two categories: 'traditional patriarch' and 'new father's figure'. 'traditional patriarch' was divided into four sub-categories: 'busy and tired', 'rule and coercion', 'predominance of men over women', 'drunkenness and drunken frenzy'. Third, the ‘relationship with father’ was divided into two categories: 'change in relationship perception' and 'break and crisis of relationship'. The 'change in relationship perception' was divided into four sub-categories: 'sorry for sacrifice as the head', 'sorry for sick and old age', 'respect', 'forgetting gratitude for familiarity'. The 'disconnection and crisis of the relationship’ was divided into three sub-categories: 'love –hate relationship', and 'inability to communicate'. This study analyzes the ‘meaning of father' perceived by female university students in media and popular culture that emphasize new father’s figure and can find its significance in that it illuminates the influence of female university students and their relationship with their father through the role and figure of polarized father.
