조선족의 한국유학자본 형성에 관한 사례연구 : 인문･사회계열 박사학위자의 대학원 경험을 중심으로

본 연구는 조선족 유학생이 한국 대학원에서 공부하는 동안 한국유학자본을 어떻게 획득하는지에 대해 심층적으로탐색하기 위한 것이다. 한국에서 박사학위를 취득한 세 명의 조선족 유학생들을 인터뷰하고, 그들의 경험을 사례연구방법을 활용하여 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 조선족 유학생의 한국유학자본은 문화적 자본, 사회적 자본, 상징적 자본으로구분되었다. 문화적 자본은 한국에서의 박사학위취득, 전공지식의 축적, 진정성 있고 엄격한 학문적 태도 함양, 언어능력 향상과 사회적 환류 활동으로 도출되었다. 사회적 자본은 학문적 사회자본, 민족적 사회자본으로 구분된다. 상징적 자본의 세부요소로는 인정, 학위 간판과 학벌로 도출되었다. 이러한 연구결과를 토대로 한국대학의 유학생유치 및 지원에 대한 시사점을 제안하였다.
Abstract
This study aimed to conduct an in-depth investigation into how Korean-Chinese students acquire Korean study abroad capital while studying at graduate school in Korea. For this purpose, the experiences of three Korean-Chinese people who obtained their PhD in Korea were analyzed using a case study methodology. The results of the study delineated a categorization of the participants’ Korean study abroad capital in Korea into cultural capital, social capital, and symbolic capital. Cultural capital was derived from obtaining a doctoral degree in Korea, accumulating knowledge in the major, cultivating authentic and rigorous academic attitudes, improving language capital, and engaging in social return activities. Social capital was analyzed as academic social capital and ethnic social capital. Symbolic capital noted as recognition, degree signage, and academic prestige. Based on these findings, implications for welcoming and supporting international students are proposed.
