본 연구는 “자녀의 원격수업을 지원하기 위한 측면”에서 학부모가 경험한 디지털 리터러시 현황을 분석하고 학부모디지털 리터러시 함양을 위한 시사점을 도출하기 위한 목적에서 시행되었다. 본 연구의 연구문제는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 코로나19 상황에서 학부모가 경험한 디지털 리터러시 현황은 어떠한가? 둘째, 코로나19 상황에서 학부모 디지털리터러시 함양을 지원하기 위한 시사점은 무엇인가? 본 연구에서는 초등학교 저학년 자녀를 둔 학부모 3명, 고학년자녀를 둔 학부모 3명을 대상으로 표적집단면담을 실시하였고 학부모 270명을 대상으로 설문조사를 시행하였다. 학부모 대상 면담과 설문조사 분석 결과 다음과 같은 시사점을 얻을 수 있었다. 첫째, 원격수업 상황에서 초등학생자녀의 디지털 기기 활용을 위한 학부모의 역할이 요구된다는 점에서 기초적인 디지털 리터러시 함양을 위한 교육기회 확대가 필요하다. 둘째, 자녀 학습을 지원하기 위해 쉽게 적용할 수 있는 디지털 리터러시 가이드를 제공하고, 가이드의 내용은 ‘온라인 학습플랫폼 활용’과 ‘디지털 윤리 준수’를 포함해야 한다. 셋째, 학부모 디지털 리터러시함양을 위해서는 학교에서의 학부모 교육 측면의 접근보다는 평생교육 차원의 학습기회가 제공될 필요가 있다. 넷째, 원격수업 지원을 위한 시스템을 기반으로 학교와 학생, 학부모 간의 효과적인 소통이 이루어질 필요가 있다. 다섯째, 학부모의 요구를 고려하여 자녀의 디지털 기기 사용 및 정보 검색 지원 역량, 자녀의 디지털 예절을 지원하는 역량을함양할 수 있도록 도울 필요가 있다. 지금까지 살펴본 바와 같이 본 연구의 결과는 자녀의 원격수업을 지원하기위한 측면에서 학부모의 디지털 리터러시 함양을 위한 시사점을 제시했다는 점에 의의가 있다.
Abstract
This study was conducted to understand the digital literacy of the parents of elementary school students to understand how to increase it so that they could better support their children’s distance learning. This study’s research questions were as follows. First, what is the current state of parents’ digital literacy in the situation of COVID-19? Second, what support is needed for cultivating parents’ digital literacy in the situation of COVID-19? In this study, group interviews were conducted with 3 sets of parents of children in the lower grades of elementary school and 3 sets of parents of children in the upper grades. A survey was also given to 270 parents of elementary school students. Three suggestions for how to support parents’ digital literacy were derived based on the results. The first suggestion is that they be given guidance on how to directly support their children’s learning and that education programs be developed that can foster their digital literacy. The second suggestion is that parents should be provided with opportunities to improve their digital literacy as part of lifelong education rather only in connection to their children’s schooling. The third suggestion is to have in-school support centers that students and parents can contact for help and to access digital devices. This study was significant in that it explored the digital literacy of parents of elementary school students and identified the support that they should be offered to better support their children’s distance learning.
