Abstract
This study conducted a meta-analysis to comprehensively examine the effects of digital technology-based exercise programs on the physical, cognitive, and emotional health of individuals with disabilities. A total of 21 experimental studies published in domestic journals, comprising 199 individual effect sizes, were analyzed. The random effects model was applied to calculate the overall mean effect size. Results showed a moderate overall effect size (g=.527, p<.001), and the 95% confidence interval [.443, .611] indicated statistical significance. Moderator analyses revealed that effect sizes varied depending on factors such as type of disability, age group, intervention domain, type of technology, number of sessions, and implementation methods. Notably, higher effect sizes were observed in studies involving individuals with developmental disabilities and middle school students, in cognitive-behavioral intervention domains, when using Semi-immersive vision sensor-based technologies, with 21–30 sessions, and session durations of 41–50 minutes. These findings suggest that digital technology-based exercise programs can be an effective approach to promote physical activity and enhance the health of individuals with disabilities, providing foundational data for practical implementation.
