대학생들의 동성애자 인권 지지도 영향 요인에 관한 연구

본 연구에서는 대학에 재학 중인 후기 청소년들을 대상으로 동성애자 인권에 대한 지지도를 조사하여 성소수자에 대한 우리 사회의 청소년들의 인식과 이해를 살펴보고, 이를 토대로 우리 사회가 어떤 배제의 틈 없이 인권이 온전하고 완전하게 실현되는 사회로 나아가기 위해서 필요한 변화의 방향을 모색하고자 하였다. 연구 문제는 첫째, 후기 청소년의 동성애자 인권 지지도 수준은 어떠한가? 둘째, 후기 청소년의 동성애자 인권 지지도에 영향을 미치는 요인은 무엇인가?이며 이를 위해 서울시내 소재 A대학에 재학 중인 대학생들을 대상으로 설문지 조사를 수행하였고, 총 1,081부의 설문지를 분석하였다. 조사 결과 첫째, 동성애자 인권에 대해서 중간 이상의 지지도를 표하는 것으로 나타났으나, 부모 됨의 권리, 결혼합법화, 차별금지의 명시 등의 항목에 대해서는 상대적으로 지지도가 낮았다. 둘째, 성별과 종교, 사회활동 참여경험, 동성애자인 지인이 있는지 여부에 따라서 동성애자 인권 지지도에 차이가 나타났다. 셋째, 동성애자 인권 지지도에 영향을 미치는 요인을 밝히기 위한 회귀 분석 결과, 젠더의식과 종교가 가장 중요한 요인으로 나타났다. 성평등한 젠더의식이 있을수록, 종교가 없는 경우에서 동성애자 인권에 더욱 지지적인 것으로 분석되었다. 결론에서는 조사 결과를 반영하여 젠더의식을 진전시키고 성소수자에 대한 사회적 차별과 배제에 대한 성찰이 가능할 수 있도록 고려된 인권 교육 프로그램의 필요성을 제안하였으며, 인권 보장에 있어서 동성애자 인권이 삭제되지 않는 방식이 되어야 함을 제언하였다.
Abstract
This study deals with the support on lesbian and gay human rights(SLGHR) for 1,081 university students in Seoul, and ultimately aims to look into adolescent's perception and their understanding of lesbian and gay people and also to seek important ways in developing the society that assures human rights without any exclusion, on the basis of the research outcome. In particular, there are two questions: one of which is about the measured levels of the SLGHR for university students and the other is what factors affect the SLGHR of university students. It is found that the rating of SLGHR of university students is moderate, whereas relatively lower support is shown regarding parenthood rights, legalization of same-sex marriage, and clear statement on prohibition of discrimination for Lesbian and Gay men. Second, there is statistically difference in SGLHR according to their sex, religion, experience of social activity, and lesbian and gay men acquaintance. Finally, from the regression analysis, it is analyzed that the most important factors of SLGHR are their gender awareness and religion. The students with no religion and higher gender equality perception are more supportive to the human rights of lesbian and gay men. In conclusion, the current study discusses the necessity of human rights education program which ultimately contributes to advance of gender awareness, self-reflection of social discrimination, and social practice for human rights of lesbian and gay men.
