나바에즈는 성인들이 자신의 신경생물학을 다시 고치는 자기 저작(self-authorship)과 자기 계발의 과정에 능동적으로 참여하기 위한 방법으로 발달 윤리 생태학적 실천(developmental ethical ecological practice)을 제안한다. 발달 윤리 생태학적 실천은 자연 세계, 아동, 자신, 그리고 서로를 위해 배려의 윤리를 실천하는 것이다. 그것은 인간의 본질에 상응하는 더욱 윤리적인 삶을 영위하는 방법을 의미하며, 우리가 현재의 곤경에서 벗어나기 위해 우리 자신과 문화를 변혁할 수 있는 구체적인 경로를 제시하여 준다. 이에 이 논문에서는 나바에즈의 발달 윤리 생태학적 실천의 구체적인 내용을 살펴보고, 그것의 강점과 약점을 분석하였다.
Abstract
Darcia Narvaez has proposed developmental ethical ecological practice as an active way of participating in self-authorship and self-development among adults. Developmental ethical ecological practice is an effective way that adults can re-correct their neurobiology. It is a practice of caring ethics for the natural world, for children, for self and for each other. It is about how to live more ethical lives that correspond to our essence. It leads us to an alternative view of current human condition, and it shows a clear-cut pathway out of our current predicament. Furthermore, it informs us of specific methods that transform ourselves and our cultures for the purpose of cultivating a common-self worldview. Therefore, based on looking into the contents of developmental ethical ecological practice, I analyzed both strength and weakness of developmental ethical ecological practice.
