본 글은 생태적 성숙의 준거와 생태적 성숙을 돕는 습관에 대한 검토를 바탕으로 초등학교 도덕교과에서 실행할 수 있는 생태적 성숙의 습관화 교육 방안에 대해 탐색한 것이다. 생태적 성숙의 준거에는 통합성, 인간다움, 관계성, 그리고 사려 깊음 등이 있으며 이에 기초한 습관들로는 도덕적 지각, 생태적 소양, 도덕적 창의성, 그리고 정치경제적 자유 등이 있다. 우리가 생태적으로 성숙한 사회를 건설하기 위해서는 초등 도덕교과부터 지구상의 자연적 존재들과 생태적으로 더불어 살아가는 습관의 내면화 교육을 학생에게 실행할 필요가 있다. 이러한 생태적 성숙의 습관화 교육이 활성화되면 학생들은 자연스럽게 생태친화적인 활동을 생활화할 수 있는 능력을 가지게 될 것이다. 다시 말해, 초등학교 시절부터 생태적 성숙의 습관을 내면화한 학생들은 성인이 되어서도 생태적 통찰력을 발휘하여 주변의 동료들뿐만 아니라 자연적 존재들까지도 사려 깊게 존중하고 배려하는 생태 친화적인 삶을 꾸려나갈 수 있을 것이다.
Abstract
This paper explores how to cultivate habits for ecological maturity by testing four criteria for habits that help us mature ecologically in elementary moral education subject. The criteria of ecological maturity include integration, humanity, relationship, and thoughtfulness. The habits based on this include moral perception, ecological literacy, moral creativity, and political and economic liberty. In order to build an ecologically mature society, it is necessary to provide students with the education of internalization of habits that live ecologically together with natural beings on earth from elementary moral education subject. When this ecological maturity habituation education is activated, students will have the capability to do eco-friendly activities. In other words, students who internalize the habit of ecological maturity from elementary school will be ecologically insightful even as adults, and will be able to live ecologically friendly lives that respectfully respect and consider not only their peers but also their natural beings
