2015 개정 도덕과 교육과정에서는 우리나라 학생들이 갖추어야 할 교과 역량으로 ‘자기 존중 및 관리 능력’을 제시하고 있다. 하지만 아쉽게도 도덕과 교육과정 공식문서에는 이 능력의 대략적인 성격을 보여주는 간단한 설명만을 제시하고 있을 뿐, 이 능력이 도덕적인 행동을 산출하는데 어떠한 방식으로 기여하는지 수업에서 어떻게 다루어져야 할지에 대하여 구체적으로 나타나있지는 않다. 사회인지이론의 관점에서 볼 때, 자기 존중 및 관리 능력은 자아정체성 형성으로서 ‘도덕적 정체성’ 및 목표의 추구와 욕구의 통제로서 ‘자기 조절’과 밀접한 관련이 있다. 이 연구에서는 도덕적 행동의 산출이라는 전체적인 관점에서 이 두 개념의 작동 기제를 구체적으로 살펴보면서 자기 존중 및 관리 능력을 다음과 같이 정리하였다. 첫째, 자기 존중 및 관리 능력은 자기 관찰, 판단, 자기 반응을 통해 자신의 행동을 도덕적인 방향으로 조절해가는 과정이다. 둘째, 자기 존중 및 관리 능력은 자신과 타인에게 도움이 되는 긍정적인 목표를 설정하고 추구하며, 이 과정에서 유혹이나 난관을 이겨낼 수 있는 능력을 포함한다. 셋째, 자기 존중 및 관리 능력은 도덕적 표준과 도덕적 자기 효능감의 획득으로서 도덕적 정체성의 형성을 필요로 한다.
Abstract
The 2015 Revised Moral Education Curriculum proposes "self-esttem and management ability", as the moral competency. However, the official document only proposes some simple explanation showing the rough features of this competency. This document lacks concrete details such as how this competency contributes to producing moral behaviors and how this must be dealt with in the class. From the perspective of social cognitive theory, self-esteem and management ability are closely related to "moral identity", as the formation of self-identity as well as "self-regulation" as the pursuit of goal and control of desire. With this in mind, this study concretely inquired into the operating mechanism of the two concepts from the general perspective of production of moral behaviors, and defined self-esteem and management ability as follows: Firstly, self-esteem and management ability are considered a process of regulation one's behavior toward the moral direction, through the processes of self-observation, judgmental process and self-reaction. Secondly, self-esteem and management ability encompasses the capacity of establishing and pursuing positive goal helpful for oneself and others, as well as the capacity of overcoming temptations or adversities during the process. Thirdly, self-esteem and management ability require the formation of moral identity as the acquisition of moral standards and self-efficacy.
