본 글은 기후변화시대 비판적 페다고지에 기초한 생태인성 함양 교육의 방안에 대해 탐색한 것이다. 기후변화, 생태전환, 생태전환교육, 그리고 생태인성교육의 개념과 의미에 대해 검토한 다음에 2022 개정 초등학교 교육과정의 성취기준에 나타난 생태인성 관련 요소를 환경지식, 환경태도 및 가치, 환경역량, 그리고 환경실천 및 참여라는 네 가지의 범주에 따라 분석한다. 이렇게 분석한 내용을 토대로 비판적 페다고지에 기초한 주제중심통합 생태인성교육의 방안을 제안하고, 지속가능성의 관점에 입각한 자신의 생활 성찰을 주제로 하는 주제중심통합 수업의 사례를 소개한다. 이러한 주제중심통합에 따른 환경 수업은 각 교과에서 배운 지식의 전이를 촉진하고 일상생활 속에서 생태적 역량과 환경적 덕을 기르는 데 적합하다는 점에서 생태인성교육의 방법으로 적합하다고 할 수 있다.
Abstract
This paper explores ways to cultivate ecological character in the era of climate change based on critical pedagogy. To this end, we first explore the concepts and meanings of climate change, ecological turn, ecological transition education, and ecological character education. Next, the achievement standards related to ecological character shown in the 2022 revised elementary school curriculum are analyzed based on four categories: environmental knowledge, environmental attitudes and values, environmental capabilities, and environmental practice and participation. Based on this analysis, we propose a plan for topic-centered integrated ecological character education based on critical pedagogy, and present a topic-centered integrated lesson with the theme of ‘reflection on one’s own life from a sustainable perspective.’ This topic-centered integrated class can be said to be suitable as an ecological character education method in that it facilitates the transfer of knowledge learned in each subject and fosters ecological capabilities and environmental virtues that can be applied in students' specific lives.
