슬라브어 삼원적 지시사 체계의 직시와 대용: 체코어와 세르비아-크로아티아-보스니아- 몬테네그로어 비교

본 논문은 슬라브어의 신-구 삼원적 지시사 체계가 본질적 직시, 대용, 담화직시, 관계사의 선행사, 감정적 지시, 한정사 기능에서 어떠한 유사점과 차이점을 보이는지 고찰한다. 삼원적 지시사 체계를 가진 슬라브어 중 세르비아-크로아티아-보스니아-몬테네그로어(이하, 세-크-보-몬어) 지시사는그 삼원성의 역사가 오래된 반면, 체코어 지시사는 형태적, 빈도적으로 무표적인 근칭 지시사가 중립지시사가 되면서 비교적 최근에 새롭게 삼원성을 획득했다. 두 슬라브어 신-구 삼원적 지시사 체계는 여러 공통점을 가지고 있는데, 무엇보다도 그 삼원 구조형성 과정이 상이한 두 슬라브어 모두에서 무엇보다도 청화자와 대상의 원근을 지시하는 개별 지시사의 본질적 직시 기능이 강할수록 다른 기능이 덜 발전하고, 본질적 직시 기능이 약할수록 다른기능의 발전 가능성이 높아진다. 한편 두 슬라브어 지시사 체계가 가진 차이점도 많은데, 가장 두드러지는 것은 지시사의 삼원체계가 오래된 세-크-보-몬어에서는 세 종류의 개별 지시사가 다양한 기능을 비교적 골고루 나눠 수행한다면, 새로운 지시사 삼원체계를 형성한 체코어에서는 근칭, 원칭 지시사보다 중립 지시사가 압도적으로 많은 기능을 수행하며, 그 문법화의 정도도 매우 높다는 것이다.
Abstract
This article deals with similarities and differences in the Czech and BCSM three-way demonstrative systems, examining their various functions to mark deixis proper, anaphora, discourse deixis, an antecedent of a relative pronoun, a speaker’s emotional attitude, and definiteness. Among Slavic l anguages with a three-way demonstrative system, BCSM has kept its tripartite demonstratives for a long history, while the Czech tripartite demonstrative system appeared relatively recently after one of the old proximal demonstratives, which is unmarked in its form and frequent in use, lost its deictic function and changed into a new distance-neutral demonstrative. These two old and new Slavic three-way demonstrative systems have some common characteristics. In both Slavic languages, most of all, the less clearly a demonstrative indicates the speaker’s distance from an object, the easier it is to serve as a marker for other functions. The BCSM medial demonstrative taj and the Czech neutral demonstrative ten are the examples. On the o ther hand, the BCSM and Czech three-way demonstratives d iffer in many aspects. The most prominent difference is that each BCSM demonstrative in its centuries-long tripartite system has its own non-deictic functions, while in the new Czech tripartite demonstrative system, the new distance-neutral demonstrative is prominent in every function, other than the deixis proper, actively undergoing grammaticalizaton, and the other demonstratives, esp. the distal ones, play a peripheral role in non-deictic and less deictic functions.
