This article suggests desirable directions for career development of student-athletes by exploring current curricular practices in elite sport and other special-purpose high school. From the comparative-analyses of curricular formation among specialized high schools, it was found that there is a lack of subj ects available for career development in elite sport high schools while other special-purpose high schools maintain curricular diversity for students’ career development. In particular, student-athletes from two elite sport high schools in other countries have greater curricular diversity and choices for career development than those in South Korea. The results of this article imply that elite sport high schools in South Korea would need to offer student-athletes more opportunities to learn diverse specialized subject areas for their career development.
