디지털 미디어와 인간 형성 과정 간의 연관성 검토: 미디어 교육(Medienbildung) 및 디지털 매체성(digitale Medialität) 개념의 교육학적 시사점 고찰을 중심으로

본 연구는 독일 교육학의 기본 개념인 Bildung 개념을 토대로 디지털 미디어와 인간 형성 과정 간의 연관성을 검토하기 위해, 독일의 교육학자 외리센(Jörissen)과 마로츠키(Marotzki)가 제시한 ‘미디어 교육(Medienbildung)’ 및 ‘디지털 매체성(digitale Medialität)’ 개념의 교육학적 시사점을 고찰하는 것을 목표로 삼고 있다. 이를 위해 먼저 오늘날의 아동과 청소년들이 디지털 미디어를 활용하여 자유롭게 자기 자신을 표현하고 활발하게 타인들과 소통하면서, 자기 자신과 타인 및 세계를 이해하고 자신의 정체성과 삶의 방향성을 설정하는 과정에 초점을 맞춘 미디어 교육 개념의 의미를 살펴보았다. 또한 물질적인 사물들이 비물질적인 디지털 코드로 쉽고 빠르게 변환되면서, 오늘날 디지털 미디어가 사람들의 사회적, 문화적 공간으로도 활용되고 있다는 디지털 미디어의 본질적 특징에 초점을 맞춘 디지털 매체성 개념의 의미도 함께 살펴보았다. 이러한 두 개념은 디지털 미디어를 교수와 학습의 공간, 또는 정보 생산과 공유의 공간으로 이해할 수 있을 뿐만 아니라, 개별 아동과 청소년들의 인간 형성 과정이 이루어지는 삶의 공간으로도 이해할 수 있는 새로운 관점을 제공하고 있다. 이뿐만 아니라 교육 행위를, 학교에서 교사가 특정한 지식이나 가치, 역량 등을 학생에게 전수하고 학생은 이를 습득하는 교수-학습의 과정으로 이해할 수 있을 뿐만 아니라, 각 개인이 타인 및 세계와 활발하게 상호작용을 하면서 그들과의 고유한 태도를 형성하는 자기 형성의 과정으로 이해할 수 있는 새로운 교육학적 관점도 제공하고 있다.
Abstract
This study aims to examine the pedagogical implications of the concepts of ‘Medienbildung’ and ‘digitale Medialität’ proposed by German pedagogist Jörissen and Marotzki to examine the connection between digital media and human formation processes based on a fundamental concept of German pedagogy ‘Bildung’. To do so, this study examines the meaning of the concept of Medienbildung, which focuses on the process by which today’s children and adolescents use digital media to freely express themselves and actively interact with others to understand themselves, others, and the world, and to establish their identity and life orientation. This study also examines the meaning of the concept of digitale Medialität, which focuses on the essential feature of digital media as a social and cultural space for people today, as material objects are easily and quickly transformed into immaterial digital codes. These two concepts offer new perspectives on how digital media can be understood not only as a space for teaching and learning, or for producing and sharing information, but also as a life space where the human formation process of individual children and young people take place. Above all, they provide a new pedagogical perspective that allows us to understand the act of education not only as a process of teaching and learning in which teachers transmit certain knowledge, values, and competencies to students and students acquire them, but also as a process of self formation in which each individual actively interacts with others the world, forming unique attitudes toward them.
