유럽연합은 현대세계에서 수많은 유럽인들의 일상생활에 영향을 주는 단일한 경제적, 정치적 조직이다. 유럽연합의 이러한 역동적인 경제적, 정치적 현상은 웨스트팔리아 민족국가 질서에 대한 도전으로 간주된다. 우리의 논문은 특히 통합과정에서 비국가적 행위자의 중심성에 초점을 둔다. 또한 다양한 신기능주의로서 초국가적 제도주의가 유럽통합의 전개과정을 평가하는데 충분한 이론적 합리성과 지속성을 가지고 있는가에 대한 문제를 탐구하는 것이다. 유럽연합에 대한 역사적 연구서들의 분석에서 제시된 연구는 신기능주의의 논점은 설득력 있는 이론적 설명력을 제공해 줌을 보여주고 있다.
Abstract
The European Union (EU) is a unique economic and political international organization influencing the daily lives of a large number of European people in the contemporary world. This dynamic economic and political phenomenon of the EU is considered as a challenge to the Westphalia nation-state order. Our paper lends special support to the centrality of non-state actors in the integrative process and seeks to account for the question of whether supranational institutionalism as a variant of neofunctionalism has sufficient theoretical rationale and cohesiveness in elucidating the evolutionary path of European integration. The findings presented in an analysis of historical narratives of the EU show that the argument of neofunctionalists offers a satisfactory theoretical explanation.
