2010년 노동당이 총선에서 패배하고 보수-자유민주당 연립정권이 수립되었을 때 노동당의 제3의 길에 대한 비판이 일었다. 이후 보수-자유민주당 연립정권이 노동당의 재정적자로 파괴된 영국을 수리한다는 정책을 내세우며 이들을 강하게 비판하였다. 이 논문에서는 이러한 비판을 한 2010년 연립정권과 블레어-브라운 노동당 집권기의 정책을주요 다섯 가지 분야에서 비교분석하여 그 유사점과 차이점을 규명하고 이들이 결국은이념적 차이가 없는 일종의 제품차별화로 대처리즘을 서로의 정당이념과 경제상황에 맞춰 적응시킨 것임을 증명하고 새로이 등장한 2015년의 제레미 코빈 노동당이 왜 구노동당 노선으로 회귀하려 하는가를 밝히는 것을 연구목적으로 한다. 이를 통하여 제3의길 신노동당 노선에 대한 역사적 평가와 중도노선으로 노선을 변경하는 것이 진보정당에 도움이 되는 가에 대해서도 고찰한다.
Abstract
When the Labour Party lost the general election in 2010, the Conservative- Liberal Democrat coalition government criticised New Labour’s Third Way coalition politicians, strongly blamed Labour for the budget deficit and insisted Conservatives repair Britain’s damages that were caused by the Labour governments over twelve years. This paper compares the Blair-Brown New Labour governments and coalition government on five main policies to find their differences and similarities and prove they are the same ideology. Indeed, parties just produce differentiation regarded as Blatcherism. This work will also find reasons why Jeremy Corbyn was elected as Labour party leader and try to bring back traditional Old Labour to British politics. Thus, this research will try to find if it is really helpful for left-wing parties to gain votes and steer themselves on a middle course.
