초록

Romania has maintained close relations with China in the Asian region since the Cold War. Despite Romania’s regime transition in 1989, this relationship persisted, and the two countries continued to cooperate in Chinese-led initiatives until the 2010s. However, Romania gradually began to distance itself from China in the 2020s, which eventually led to the cancellation of China’s participation in Romania’s infrastructure improvement projects that the two countries had been promoting. Therefore, this paper aims to analyze the causes of changes in Romanian-Chinese relations since the 2020s from the constructivist perspective. For this purpose, the paper examines empirical cases from the 2010s and 2020s that illustrate changes in Romania’s approach to China. Then, this paper examines from a constructivist perspective, such as norms, identity, and discourse.
