Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the multiple mediating effects in the links between informal learning and turnover intention. In detail, the focuses of this study is to demonstrate primary positive effects of informal learning on turnover intention, career adaptation and employability, in addition, to test the psychological process of career adaptability and employability in the influential path of informal learning on turnover intention. The data, which applied in empirical analysis, collected from 226 employees, who have worked at companies classified service industry in Jeju island. The statistical package, SPSS Macro, was used to demonstrate multiple regressions in each pathes and mediational process with Model 4. In addition, bootstrapping for the significance test of indirect effect was used with 5000 samples. The results showed that informal learning was positively related to turnover intention, employability and career adaptability, but in the mediational process, career adaptability was only statistically significant in the mediation effects. These findings suggest that the role of informal learning under the approach which distinguished into formal and informal learning, the differential impact of learning at the level of individual on turnover intention was proved, as well as, the psychological mechanism in this process through employability and career adaptability was distinguished. Practically, these results related to learning at the individual level may give some potential meaningful implications in terms of employee turnover in the service area.
