Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate the universality and specificity of physical self-concept in physical disability middle and high school students with the open typed questionnaire for which an investigatory method was used through the qualitative gathering of data and physical self-concept domain was accordingly, then it was analysed in depth. The subjects of this study are total 150 students aging 14 to 19 years composed of 90 males and 60 females of which the innate are 84 students while 66 students acquired. The number of reaction obtained was 198 units through 2 different phases of categories. the results of the study can summarized as follows by inductive analysing method. First, The physical self-concept components of the physical disability middle and high school students were obtained indicating the domain of 27 units from the first thematic category, and 8 unit from the general realm respectively. Second, the universal components of physical self-concept in physical disability middle and high school students showed 17 unit from face, skin, general appearance in appearance realm, height, obesity, slender figure, general physique in physique realm, muscle power, muscle endurance, flexible, general physical fitness in physical fitness realm, health realm, sports competence realm, exercise participation, physical mobility, physical activity desire in physical activeness realm, general motion ability in motion ability realm. The third, the specific components of physical self-concept in physical disability middle and high school students showed 10 unit from physical disfigurement in appearance realm, muscle power ataxia, agility, quickness, balance in physical fitness realm, object handling ability, locomotion motion ability, clothing motion ability in motion ability realm, physical insensibility, pain perception in physical sense ability realm.
