Abstract
This study sought to verify the validation of the instrument of pre-service physical education teachers’ self-efficacy towards inclusive physical education(SE-PETE-D). In detailed, Rasch measurement model was applied to the test validation of SE-PETE-D based on the definition of validation divided and suggested by Messick(1995)(content, substantive, structural, generalizability). To achieve the purpose of this study, the test of SE-PETE-D(25 questionnaires) was conducted targeting 461 pre-service teachers(male: 326, female: 135) enrolled at eight universities in Korea. To perform data analysis, Winsteps 3.64.2(Linacre, 2007) was utilized, and the statistical significance level was set as .05. The results of this study revealed that SE-PETE-D had the appropriate 1) validation of content, 2) validation of substantive, 3) condition to verify the structural, and 4) validation based on generalizability that did not discriminatorily work depending on gender and grade. In conclusion, it is clear that SE-PETE-D can work as a valid instrument to measure Korean pre-service teachers’ self-efficacy towards inclusive physical education.
