Abstract

The purpose of this study was to assess the blood pressure response during continuous submaximal exercise test with arm ergometer in male adults with spinal cord injury. Twenty nine subjects(30-59aged) were evaluated in national players were 9(1 high thoracic : C1-T6 and 8 lower thoracic : T7-L5), elite players were 6(3 high thoracic and 3 lower thoracic), amateur players were 4 (1 high thoracic and 3 lower thoracic), non-exerciser were 10(6 high thoracic and 4 lower thoracic). they didn't have any disease except for SCI. All subjects performed with submaxial arm ergometer test that continuous exercise protocol was used, consisting of 2-min work staged, starting at 25 W, and work increased 15W. And Blood pressures and Heart rate were record when reached 1 minute at each stage. They had finished until subjects voluntarily terminated exercise due to arm fatigue, dyspmea, or other reason. The results were as follows; There weres shows that difference BP and heart rate at each stage in graded exercise, systolic pressure of national players, elite platers and amateur players showed tendency to increase when reached each stage but non-exerciser showed tendency to comedown when reached 2 or 3 stage. Also there was showed significant difference the continuous time among to national players, elite players and amateur players and non-exerciser of SCI with high thoracic and lower thoracic. There was showed that difference curve of systolic pressure according to level of lesion and exercise level.
