초록

본 연구는 20여 년간 나의 질적연구 공부과정의 체험과 나의 논문들을 중심으로 질적연구의 경험을 재해석하는데 목적이 있다. 해석학적 현상학에 기초한 자문화기술지의 방법론을 적용하고, 자료 분석을 위하여 작성한 메모와 당시 작성한 일기와 성찰노트를 연대순으로 정리하고, 자료를 반복적으로 검토하였다. 자료분석은 Saldaῇa(2009: 173-181)가 제시한 종단적 코딩의 일곱 개의 기술적 범주 중 급변, 출현, 전환점 범주와 특이함의 범주에 중점을 두었다. 본 연구의 결과는 고백적·감성적 글쓰기와 분석적·해석적 글쓰기를 혼용하였으며 다음과 같이 결과를 요약할 수 있다. 첫째, 연구년 동안 미국에서 시작한 질적연구 공부는 자료와 소통하고 자료를 제시하는 과정에 어려움을 겪었으며, 현상학적 연구로 질적연구를 시작하였다. 둘째, 귀국 후 질적연구 작업은 현상학적 방법론을 사용하였으며, 논문에서 인식론과 이론적 틀에 대한 부분을 체계화하려고 노력하였다. 결과의 재현을 위한 글쓰기에는 전통적 글쓰기를 극복하는데 많은 어려움을 보였다. 셋째, 혼합연구에 대한 고민과 생애사 연구로 질적연구를 확장하였다. 본 연구 결과는 한 질적연구자의 내부적 관점에서 자신의 연구과정을 성찰하고 질적연구물을 재분석하여, 질적연구물의 질과 수준을 제고하였다. 이는 학문공동체의 다양한 현장의 문제를 효과적으로 연구하기 위한 질적연구의 발전적이고 대안적인 관점을 모색하는데 기여할 수 있다.

Abstract

The purpose of the study is to reinterpret the academic experience on my qualitative research in retrospect of years of learning and teaching career. For analysis, written memo, diary, and reflection note, and my published papers were arranged in chronological order. Data analysis was done with emphasizing of surges, increase, emerge/ Epiphanies, and turning points /idiosyncratic, out of Saldaῇa‘s 7 longitudinal coding. The results are as followings. First, I had hard time for communication and representation with data and I began my qualitative research with phenomenology. Second, I used phenomenology methodology for the studies at the beginning of my qualitative research, and emphasized the epistemology and theoretical framework. I had hard time for representation of result. Third, I expended my concern to mixed method research and life history. My academic insight and depth on qualitative research has been achieved as time passed by on the basis of analysis of my papers. At that time the best methodologies which were thought were to be developed in various ways. And I extended my interest to the mixed methods research and life history. This study will give speculative and alternative perspective and insight to the academic community.
