왕후이(汪暉)의 정치경제학적 사유의 특징 - 칼 폴라니(Karl Polanyi)와 세계체계론의 수용을 중심으로
A Study on Wang Hui’s Political - economic Thought: Focusing on the Influence of Karl Polanyi and World - Systems Analysis

Since the 1990s, there have been many debates on the path and the future of China within Chinese intellectuals. Liberalists who have accepted the modernization theory contend that China must go on the path of western style market economy and liberal democracy. And they attribute the root causes of the China’s social problems to strong state intervention and insufficient marketization. But, the New left intellectuals refuse or strongly criticize the Liberalists’ view. Especially Wang Hui, on the basis of Karl Polanyi’s political-economic thought and World-Systems Analysis, he insisits that the main causes of the China’s social problems was marketization in China starting from 1980’s and Communist Party’s policy to force that into Chinese society. And also he thinks neoliberalism rapidly proceeding in China after 1989 Tiananmen incident leads Chinese people to continuous social self-protection movement, or counter-movement. Thus, what is important for him is that Chinese Communist Party should establish social welfare policy by reflecting the voice from the lower and enforce that for peasants and workers as an important assignment.
