Abstract
The main objective of this study is to investigate effect of dominant brand in extended product category on brand extension evaluation. This research splits brand extension(similar vs. dissimilar), brand alliance(ingredient branding strategy, co-branding strategy). The empirical research outcome: the main effects of brand extension were significant. But main effect of type of brand alliance was significant. The interaction effect(brand alliance × type of brand extension) was significant. Specifically, In the condition of similar extension, consumers evaluated more positively on condition of ingredient brand alliance strategy rather than co-brand alliance strategy. But in the condition of dissimilar extension, consumers evaluated more positively on condition of co-brand alliance strategy rather than ingredient brand alliance strategy.
