초록
This paper proposes that P-feature(focus) is involved in wh-movement, not only the EPP-feature that operates for a part of the movement led by uninterpretable feature-checking. Many researchers have asserted that movement can be triggered by the EPP-feature as well as by other elements. Bokovi (2002, 2005, 2007) proposes that wh-movement is driven by an uninterpretable feature like case and the cyclicity of wh-words is caused by a successive cyclic movement, especially in embedded wh-interrogatives. This paper proposes more economical and clear explanation for wh-movement in embedded wh-clauses by the P-feature (focus). Futhermore, this paper justifies that the P-feature is adequate for simplifying and maximizing the explanatory adequacy for the cyclicity of wh-movement.
