초록
In this paper we investigate English and Korean light verb complicate predicate constructions. The focus of this paper is to analyze V+V light verb complicate predicates - light verbs that take verbal hosts. First we introduce the issues related to the analysis of V+N complicate predicates discussed in the literature. And then we turn to the light verbs that combine with verbal hosts. Interestingly, unlike English, the second verb -cwu in Korean V+V complicate construction may overtly appear as the applicative light verbs and function as a dative marker. The applicative light verb in Korean can be described as give-compounding. Lastly the syntactic structure of V+V complicate predicate construction is proposed on the basis of Maranz(1993), McGinnis(2005) and Pylkkanen(2008)'s vAppl.
