초록

This study investigates the extent to which semantic roles and syntactic structures in advertising headlines are conditioned by product categories. The analysis demonstrates that the distribution of semantic roles exhibits significant associations with product type: automobiles predominantly highlight consumer benefits, drugs and cosmetics emphasize functional properties, clothing foregrounds external form, food products stress constituent composition, and alcohol or tobaccos foreground the manufacturer. By contrast, the association between product categories and syntactic realization is comparatively weaker, though discernible tendencies are observed. Rational product groups such as automobiles and drugs show a preference for sentential constructions while avoiding elliptical forms, whereas emotionally oriented groups such as cosmetics, clothing, and alcohol favor shorter and more fragmentary expressions. Those findings provide empirical evidence for systematic interactions between semantic and syntactic choices in advertisement.
