이 연구는 서비스러닝(Service-learning)의 방법을 적용하여 청소년활동을 지원하는 봉사 프로젝트를 수행한 교양수업에서 대학생들이 인식하는 학습경험을 질적으로 분석하여, 효과적인 서비스러닝 교과 설계를 위한 함의를 도출하는데 목적이 있다. 이 교양수업은 지역사회의 청소년 관련 기관과 연계하여 청소년활동을 지원하는 프로젝트를 팀별로 계획하고 수행하는 서비스러닝의 과정으로 설계되었다. 이 연구에서는 주제분석법(Thematic analysis)을 활용하여 이 수업을 수강한 대학생 총 29명의 응답 자료를 분석하였다. 학생들이 작성한 성찰 보고서 및 연구자와의 면담록에 대하여 참여자의 확인과 동료 연구자와의 협의를 통해 귀납적으로 분석하였다. 그 결과, 청소년 관련 기관과 연계한 서비스러닝 수업을 통해 대학생들은 ‘자아 인식의 변화’를 가져왔고, ‘대인관계 역량 향상’을 인식하였으며, ‘프로젝트 역량’을 높일 수 있었다. 나아가 현장과 연계한 서비스러닝의 경험은 대학생들 자신의 진로 적성에 대해 진지하게 성찰하게 하였고 ‘진로 준비를 위한 성장’의 계기가 되었다. 이러한 성과를 바탕으로, 효과적인 서비스러닝 수업을 위해서는 학습자의 충분한 반성적 성찰의 기회가 주어져야 하고, 팀으로 이루어지는 봉사 프로젝트를 학생들이 주도적으로 진행할 수 있도록 설계해야 한다. 이 과정에서 현장 파트너 기관과의 협력도 중요하며, 학생들의 경험과 성찰의 내용이 동료들과 충분히 공유될 수 있도록 하는 전략이 필요하다.
Abstract
This study aims to derive implications for effective service-learning course design by qualitatively analyzing the learning experiences of university students who participated in a service-learning-based liberal arts course. This course was composed of a service-learning process, in which teams planned and implemented projects aimed at supporting youth activities in local youth organization. Using the thematic analysis method, this study analyzed the reflective responses of 29 university students who took the course. The inductive analysis process was applied to their reflective reports and interview records. Efforts were made to enhance the validity of the research through participant verification and peer review. The analysis results indicated that through the service-learning with youths, university students experienced a 'change in self-awareness,' recognized an 'improvement in interpersonal skills,' and enhanced their 'project management competencies.' Moreover, the service-learning experience in the field provided students with an opportunity to seriously reflect on their career aptitudes and explore information related to career preparation. Based on these outcomes, the study suggests that sufficient opportunities of reflective thinking should be provided for an effective service-learning course. Additionally, the volunteer projects carried out in student teams should be carefully designed for their self-regulated process. Collaboration with field partner organizations is also crucial, and strategies should be implemented to ensure that students' experiences and reflections are adequately shared with their peers.
