바울의 시작된 종말론의 사유 속에서 하나님의 선교는 ‘엔 크리스토’를 통해서 이루어진다. 하나님은 ‘그리스도 안에서’ ‘새 창조’를 이루셨고, 세상과 ‘화해’하셨으며, ‘하나님의 의’를 드러내셨다. 그러나 본문의 ‘새 창조’, ‘화해’, ‘의’는 전통적인 해석처럼 직설법으로만 볼 수 없다. 바울이 구원론을 제시하기 위해서 본문을 기록한 것이 아니라, 자신의 사도권을 변호하는 맥락에서 복음의 내용을 사용했기 때문이다. 따라서 본문의 독법은 우리의 신분 변화(새 피조물됨, 화해됨, 칭의)에만 국한되지 않아야 한다. 오히려 직설법보다는 고린도 교인들을 향한 명령법으로 읽어야 한다. 그것은 ‘그리스도 안에서’ 참여를 통한 새 피조물로서의 관점 변화, 화해, 하나님의 의와 정의 구현이라고 하는 변화에로의 초대이다. 바울이 ‘그리스도 안에서’ 그리스도의 십자가와 부활을 본받음으로서, 자신의 삶과 사역이 복음의 구현이 되었던 것처럼, 교회가 세상에 화해의 전달자가 되고, 하나님의 의를 구현하는 것 역시 ‘그리스도 안에서’ 그리스도의 십자가를 본받는 변혁적 참여를 통해서만 가능하다. 따라서 ‘엔 크리스토’ 사상은 변혁적이고, 참여적이며, 선교적인 특성을 가진다.
Abstract
Paul shows that Mission of God was accomplished through ‘in Christ’ in the text of 2 Corinthians 5:17-21. God has achieved ‘new creation,’ ‘reconciliation with the world,’ and has revealed ‘the righteousness of God’ in Christ. However, the meaning of‘new creation,’ ‘reconciliation,’ and ‘righteousness’ cannot be interpreted in an indicative manner as in traditional interpretations. Paul did not record the text to present the salvation aspect of the Gospel. Instead he used the content of the gospel in the context of defending his apostleship and depicting his manner of ministry. Therefore, the reading of the text should not be limited to our change of status as a new creation, reconciled with God and be regarded as righteous. Rather, the text should be read as imperative to the Corinthian believers rather than as indicative. It is an invitation to a change of perspective, reconciliation with God and Paul, and embodiment of Justice of God through participation in Christ. Just as Paul imitated the cross and resurrection of Christ ‘in Christ,’ and his life and ministry became the embodiment of the gospel, it is only possible for the church to become a messenger of reconciliation to the world and to embody God’s righteousness and Justice through transformative participation ‘in Christ.’ Thus it is clear that the ‘in Christ’ idea has transformative, participatory and missional characteristics.
