초록

The literary therapeutics with an academic system mainly organized by Woonchun Jeong is a new area of interdisciplinary study. The literary therapy is based on an 'academic system known as literary therapeutics', whose main goal is to improve problems of our lives toward desirable and healthy directions. The literary therapeutics which started with this premise of the goal investigates "a variety of problems occurring in human relationships with literature", and provides with practices to handle the problems in different perspectives. Both alternatives medical characteristics and following complementation of the literary therapeutics have been investigated in the paper for the academic principles and practices of the therapeutics appeared as healing arts. These can be summarized as follows: 1) Firstly, there is no semantic difference between the correction in the self epic and the changing the mind of oneself. The therapeutics is placed at the 'changing the mind' in the healthy and desirable direction of the self epic through the literal epics, in other words, at the center of 'the medicine for the mind'. Therefore, it is the opinion of the author of the paper that, in the perspective of English term representing the epic of both oneself and literature, the general term of the 'narrative' in narratology is more suitable than the general term of the 'epic' that has been used by the literary therapeutists. 2) Secondly, it is possible that the children epic (or narrative) ruled by the principles of the world and the parents epic by the principle of mine are to be merged into the 'principle', and that the man-woman epic mainly of the hopes of mine and the husband-wife epic of the hopes of the world to be merged into the 'desires that substituted for the hopes'. The reason for the merges is that the parents and the children can be put together into the blood relationship, as well as the man-woman and the husband-wife into its non-blood relationship. 3) Thirdly, according to two axises of the blood (the parents and the children) and the non-blood (the man-woman and the husband-wife), a mental response of the subjects of the relationships, called 'confidence and suspicion', appears against the desires and the principles, and the 'either pursuing or overcoming' action of the subjects follows afterward. The semantic structure of the relationships is homomorphic to the basic semantic structure proposed by Greimas. It is expected that the academic system of the literary therapeutics is to be reorganized through the model referenced from the story-epic analysis model of Greimas, and that the discussions to reinterpret the core principle and concepts of the therapeutics is to be activated. 4) Fourthly, the argument of the therapeutist that the quality of healthy life can be guaranteed by the correction of the self epic has its own implication that can be compared as the early works of psychoanalysists who emphasized the importance of depth psychology occupying human lives. The goal of modern medicine is to improve the quality of healthy life. The goal of the literary therapeutics focusing on the subject-oriented human relationships is to improve the quality of healthy life, too. In order to achieve the goal, it is critically urgent that the therapeutics should reinforce its own clinical logic. The therapeutics is the conversation among psychoanalysis, clinical medicine, anthropology, biology, etc. The conversations and interactions with other disciplines is to develop a domain of customized treatment for individual differences as a long-term task of the literary therapeutics for self-renewal.
