로잔 대회는 선교계의 월드컵이라 불릴 만큼 세계적인 복음주의 선교 운동이다. 감사한 것은 2024년 9월 22일부터 28일까지 로잔 운동 50주년을 기념해 제4차 로잔 운동이 한국에서 열린다. 하지만 제4차 로잔 대회는 한국의 단독 개최가 아니라 한국・일본 등 아시아 교회가 공동 주최하지만 한국교회가 호스트를 맡았다. 주제는 “함께 듣고, 모이고, 행동할 기회”이다. 국제로잔운동의 신임 총재로 한국계 미국인인 마이클 오(Michael Young-suk Ok) 박사가 선임된 것은 뜻깊은 일이며, 약 5천 명이 참석할 예정이다. 현재 전 세계가 코로나19, 지구 온난화, 전쟁, 가뭄, 홍수로 몸살을 앓고 있다. 더욱이 인공지능(AI)과 메타버스와 같은 제4차 산업혁명을 맞이해 교회의 새로운 변화가 요구되는데 제4차 로잔 대회가 이에 대한 방향을 제시해 주었으면 한다. 무엇보다 제4차 로잔 대회가 한국에서 개최된 것은 한국교회에 감사한 일이자 축복이다. 코로나19를 겪으면서 추락한 한국교회의 이미지를 회복할 수 있는 절호의 기회이기 때문이다. 물론 한국교회가 로잔 대회를 교세자랑이나 업적주의에 빠지지 않고, 철저한 준비를 한다면 위기를 기회로 만들 수 있다. 따라서 본고는 제1차 로잔 대회의 로잔 언약, 제2차 로잔 대회의 마닐라 선언문, 제3차 로잔 대회의 케이프타운 서약을 ‘교회-복음-세상’의 관점에서 분석・평가한 뒤, 제4차 로잔 대회의 주요 과제를 제시하는데 그 목적을 두고 있다. 바라기는 본고를 통해 한국교회가 로잔 운동의 정신을 재발견하여 한국 선교를 다시 일으킬 수 있는 계기가 되었으면 한다.
Abstract
The Lausanne Congress, also known as the “the World Cup of Missions”, is a global evangelical missionary movement. The Fourth Lausanne Congress will be held in Seoul, South Korea from September 22nd to the 28th, 2024 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Lausanne Movement. The main goals and topics will be on, “opportunities to listen, gather and act together.” It will be hosted by the Korean church in South Korea and co-hosted by Asian churches from other countries such as Japan. Approximately 5,000 people are expected to attend with Dr. Michael Young-suk Oh, a Korean-American, as the newly appointed global executive director of the Lausanne International Movement. A change is needed by the church due to the world’s current struggles with COVID-19, global warming, war, drought, flooding, and the fourth industrial revolution such as artificial intelligence and metaverse. We hope that the Fourth Lausanne Congress will provide a direction for this. The Korean church holds gratitude and blessing to have the opportunity to host the Fourth Lausanne Congress held in South Korea. This is because it is an opportunity to restore the image of the Korean church that has been lose due to the hardship of COVID-19. If the Korean church prepares well without falling into pride or overachieving, it can turn a crisis into an opportunity. The purpose of this paper is to analyze and evaluate with the perspective of ‘church-gospel-world’ about the Lausanne Covenant of the First Lausanne Congress, the Manila Manifesto of the Second Lausanne Congress, the Cape Town Commitment of the Third Lausanne Congress, and aim to present the main tasks of the Fourth Lausanne Congress. This paper will serve as an opportunity for the Korean church to rediscover the spirit of the Lausanne Movement and rekindle Korean missions.
