Abstract
This study, by investigating national-level panel data, examined the interplay among reading instruction, self-directedness, and subjective well-being. Data were gathered from 6,047 high school seniors nationwide using stratified cluster random sampling to ensure representation of regional differences. This study elucidated the dynamics among these critical factors, thereby establishing empirical linkages that can improve learning environments to foster student agency and subjective well-being, and also aid in enriching theoretical discourse.
