이 연구는 서사적 설득에 영향을 미치는 주요 요인과 설득 효과를 체계적으로 분석 하기 위해, 최근 10년간 발표된 국외 학술 논문 중 서사적 설득의 실증적 연구를 메타분석한 논문을 대상으로 체계적 문헌 고찰을 수행하였다. 연구 결과, 서사적 설득을 ‘조건-과정-결과’라는 구조로 체계화하였으며, 조건 요인으로는 인물, 양식, 매체를, 과정 요인으로는 유사성, 동일시, 전이, 저항을, 결과 요인으로는 인지, 태도, 행동을 제시하였다. 서사적 설득의 경로와 효과는 각 요인 간의 상호작용에 따라 다층적으로 나타났으며, 특정 요인에 따라 설득 효과의 차이가 발생하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 일부 요인의 효과는 상충되거나 불충분하게 규명된 부분이 있어 후속 연구의 필요성을 제기하였다. 이 연구는 서사적 설득의 주요 메커니즘을 새롭게 조명함으로써 서사를 통한 설득의 이론적 정교화에 기여하고자 하였다. 나아가 서사에 기반한 교육 및 의사소통이 학습자의 신념, 태도, 행동 변화뿐 아니라 사회적․윤리적 성장을 이끄는 데 중요한 역할을 할 수 있음을 시사하며, 국어교육에서 서사 기반 교육의 가능성을 확장하고 실천적 시사점을 제공하였다.
Abstract
This study systematically analyzed the key factors influencing narrative persuasion and its effects by conducting a systematic review of meta-analyses on empirical studies of narrative persuasion published internationally over the past decade. The findings structured narrative persuasion into a “condition-process- outcome” framework. Specifically, condition factors included character, modality, and medium; process factors encompassed similarity, identification, transportation, and resistance; and outcome factors comprised cognition, attitude, and behavior. The pathways and effects of narrative persuasion were found to manifest in multilayered ways depending on the interactions among these factors, with variations in persuasive effects based on specific factors. Additionally, inconsistencies and gaps in the effectiveness of certain factors highlighted the need for further research. By shedding new light on the mechanisms of narrative persuasion, this study aims to contribute to the theoretical refinement of persuasion through narratives. Moreover, it underscores the potential of narrative-based education and communication to foster not only changes in learners’ beliefs, attitudes, and behaviors but also their social and ethical growth. These findings expand the possibilities for narrative-based education in Korean language education and offer practical implications for its implementation.
