‘새말 만들기’ 과제 설계에 대한 연구

Abstract

This paper, we designed a task of ‘forming new word’ in a onomasiological approach and applied to students. From a onomasiological approach which value the process of conceptualization, we established ‘Conceptualization – Verbalization’ as center axis of word formation process. Then made activity papers containing a naming task. Private activity and group activity constitute the papers. In the former all individuals made new word according to systematic guides and in the latter the groups select the most appropriate new word through discussion. The target of naming activity is familiar with students so, students who join in experiment class were made various new words focusing diverse features like purpose of use, material, shape, sensation, operation mathod, and so on. The students selected words based on various criteria such as meaningful calendar, pronunciation, genuineness, sophistication, and word species. But the criteria were not systematically applied. This study considered external and internal educational value of forming new word activity, and suggested direction for designing task of forming new words. Therefore, this study differentiates from previous discussions that emphasize the necessity of making new words, and seek to find value in relation to other areas such as vocabulary and discourse. However, since the focus of the discussion lies in the setting of the macro-direction, it has shown a clear limit to discussing thoroughly the research problems required to plan teaching-learning. In this regard, I will continue my research gradually.
