황병승 시의 ‘부끄러움’ 연구 ― 리터러시 심화의 관점에서

본 연구는 21세기 한국시의 새로움을 선도하였던 황병승의 시 세계를 조금 더 수월하게 이해하고 파악하기 위한 방법론으로써, 다수의 시편에서 출현하는 ‘부끄러움(부끄럽다)’ 관련 어휘, 어구 등을 선택하였다. 황병승시 독해의 어려움이나 난해성을 해소하고 리터러시 또는 문해력을 신장시 키기 위한 방편으로써 도입한 ‘부끄러움’ 관련 표현은 총 10편의 시에서 13회 사용되었다. 황병승의 시에 등장하는 ‘부끄러움’ 관련 표현은 그가 펴낸 세 권의 시집들 중에서 1시집과 2시집에 집중되었다. ‘부끄러움’ 관련 표현은 1시집 중6편의 시에 등장하였고, 2시집 중 4편의 시에 등장하였다. 시적 화자 ‘나’ 를 포함한 인물들은 ‘부끄러움’을 긍정하는 경우와 ‘부끄러움’을 부정하는 경우로 구분되었는데, 황병승은 ‘부끄러움’을 긍정하는 인물을 향한 강한 지향성을 보여주었다. 황병승의 시를 이해하고 파악하는데 시적 정서로서의 ‘부끄러움’은 효과 적인 ‘틀’ 또는 ‘프레임’으로 기능할 수 있다. 시적 화자 ‘나’에게 ‘부끄러움’은 불가피한 ‘통과 의례’이다. ‘부끄러움’이라는 의식을 겪음으로써 기존의 ‘나’는 새로운 ‘나’로 거듭나게 된다. ‘나’는 ‘부끄러움’을 통해서 ‘자아’를 치료하고 고양하며, ‘타자’와 소통하고 교류한다. 황병승이 구사하는 ‘부끄러움’을 성적(性的) 요소와 같은 자극적이거나 관능적인 측면으로만 수용할 필요는 없다. 시인이 활용하는 ‘부끄러움’은다채로운 예술 분야와의 협력을 유도하는 촉매이다. 또한 황병승은 반성이나 성찰의 계기로서 ‘부끄러움’을 활용함으로써 윤동주 시인과 결속될 수있는 가능성을 높이고, ‘부끄러움’과 인접한 부분에 ‘사랑’을 배치함으로써 김수영 시인과의 운명적 조우(遭遇)를 실천한다.
Abstract
This study selected vocabulary and phrases related to “shame” that appear in a number of specimens as a methodology to more easily understand and grasp the poetry world of Hwang Byeong-seung, who led the novelty of Korean poetry in the 21st century. In Hwang Byeong-seung, the expression related to “shame” introduced as a means to solve the difficulty or difficulty of reading comprehension and increase literacy was used 13 times in a total of 10 poems. The expressions related to ‘shame’ that appear in Hwang Byeong-seung’s poems were focused on the 1st and 2nd poetry collections among the three poems he published. Expressions related to ‘shame’ appeared in 6 poems out of 1 poetry collection and 4 poems out of 2 poetry collections. Characters including the poetic speaker ‘I’ were divided into a case of affirming ‘shame’ and a case of denying ‘shame’, and Hwang Byeong-seung showed a strong orientation toward a person who affirms ‘shame’. In understanding and grasping Hwang Byeong-seung’s poetry, ‘shame’ as a poetic emotion can function as an effective ‘frame’. For the poetic speaker ‘I’, ‘shame’ is an inevitable ‘passing ritual’. By experiencing the consciousness of ‘shame’, the existing ‘I’ is reborn as a new ‘I’. ‘I’ treats and elevates ‘self’ through ‘shame’, and communicates and exchanges with ‘other’. It is not necessary to accept Hwang’s “shame” only in terms of provocative or sensual aspects, such as sexual elements. The “shame” that poets use is a catalyst that induces cooperation in various art fields. In addition, Hwang Byeong－seung uses “shame” as an opportunity to reflect on himself, thereby increasing the possibility of being united with poet Yun Dong－ju, and practicing a fateful encounter with poet Kim Soo－young by placing “love” in the area adjacent to “shame.”
