This study intends to clarify the principles and the methods to be followed in drawing up the glosses on vocabulary for providing Korean learners with appropriate glosses on vocabulary. First, this study discusses the procedure of drawing up the glosses on vocabulary, and proposes the principle of defining meaning for the glosses on vocabulary by making use of the principle of the defining meaning applied to Korean dictionaries.
