A Study on Korean Language Teacher’s Misconception on Korean Language History

This paper is intended to investigate misconceptions of Korean language teacher that appear in the education of Korean language history. In order to investigate misconceptions of Korean language teacher, we analyzed questions of regular test in middle school and high school. 12 misconceptions are confirmed are as follows. Vowel harmony, basis of age classification, loan writing system, grapheme and phoneme, consonant clusters and combinations of different letter, palatalization, Korean declension nouns, final ending and auxiliary particle in interrogatives, semantic change, principals of stroke-adding, a variant of Hunminjeongeum, history of life using characters. The occurrence of these teacher's misconceptions is fundamentally related to the curriculum of the teacher training, but considering the analysis process of this study, it seems to be closely related to the contents of textbooks on Korean language history education in particular.
