학문 목적 한국어 교육을 위한 '우리말샘' 전문 어휘의 뜻풀이 분석 연구 -전기·전자 전공을 중심으로-

Abstract

This study investigates the potential use of the Urimalsaem dictionary to facilitate learning of technical vocabulary among international students pursuing academic goals in Korea. The study examines definitions of 20,959 pieces of technical vocabulary within the domain of electrical and electronic engineering. The results indicate that definitions for technical vocabulary are lengthier and more complex, employing a broader range of words than those of general vocabulary. Additionally, high-frequency terms associated with the discipline, including ‘jeonap (voltage),’ ‘jeonryu (electric current),’ and ‘hoero (circuit),’ are prevalent. Nonetheless, many high-frequency nouns coincide with vocabulary lists used in Korean language education and basic technical vocabulary, confirming the viability of Urimalsaem as a learning resource for academic purposes. Furthermore, the structural characteristics and functions of key terms in the field are clarified through network analysis of the vocabulary. These results also visually represent the relationships among high-frequency nouns and suggest frequently co-occurring word pairs. This study proposes a new direction for enhancing technical vocabulary learning in Korean for academic purposes. It serves as a fundamental resource for developing teaching materials and methods targeted at the needs of international students. This strategy ultimately supports their academic success and fosters personalized educational approaches.
