Analysis of Korean Language Learner Usage for Korean Particle-Combination Education

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to analyze Korean language learners' usage in Korean particle-combination and to propose an instructional model for instruction of particle-combination. To conduct the study, recent Korean language teaching materials were analyzed, which revealed that a total of 91 types of particle-combination were presented to learners 7,082 times. However, it was found that contents regarding particle-combination in Korean language textbooks were very limited, making it difficult for learners to systematically study particle-combination. Furthermore, a Grammaticality Judgment Test was conducted with 118 intermediate and advanced Korean language learners studying at a university-affiliated institution to investigate their errors in particle-combination usage. The results showed errors in the order of omission, substitution, ordering, form, and addition. Based on these analyses, a practical model for teaching Korean particle-combination was developed using the WPPTF model, which applies a focus on form(FonF) instruction. This study holds significance in that it analyzes the latest educational materials and learners' error patterns in real educational settings and proposes a instructional model based on these findings.
